Rapax focus lever removal

I’m working on rebuilding a Rapax but I’m struggling to remove the the focus lever which is needed in order to remove the case.

The lever can’t be removed through the case slot, the spring lever is too large.

The lever wont come out towards the lens mount, it hangs up against the case, and it fouls against the posts.

The service manual has excellent disassembly instructions and just says “remove the lever”

Hoping someone can help me out!

My guess is that it comes out towards the lens tube. If you tilt it at the casing slot you should be able to wiggle it out?
