Hi, I have a few questions on rebranded films.
I took some shots with adox chm 125 from purchased from JandC a few months ago. Souped with D76 1+1. great film. And I am assuming it is FP4+. Am I correct? I prewetted it from like 1 minute or so and got water out like ink. Didn't notice FP4+ (well I didn't prewet FP4) had the same issue. What is it?
I also have Adox CHM 400. Not sure what it is also? Recently I tried arista.edu (made in hungary) 400 and rated at 320 and developed as 400 in D76(1+1), I found it is slower than that speed. Now I have some Adox CHM 400 and I am not sure what it is (HP5+?). Anyone used them, what should i rate them and how do I develop them (I have DD-X, D76 and microdol-X).
I have tried digital truth dot com but didn't find much info.

Thank you very much.

That's just the anti-halation layer. No problem there. I get the same thing when I do a 1 minute prewash with FP4+. Sorry, can't help with the rest of them though.

There is a 99% chance that the Adox CHM films are made by Ilford. Develop them as such.

The Adox branded CHM films are Ilford emulsions which have been finished by Efke in Croatia. That's why the 120 Adox films come in plastic containers which the Ilford originals certainly don't.

The Adox CHM films are made by Efke in Croatia. Efke is now Adox.

It has been reported that some of the Ilford films were also manufactured by Adox/Efke

I believe that it is just the opposite - CHM 125 and CHM 400 films are manufactured by ilford in england (and other Adox films are made in Croatia?).

"ADOX CHM Professional Films - The CHM series films orginate in England and are packaged for ADOX."

Well, anyway, I shoot mainly with Adox CHM 400. Excellent film!

TRhe 125 clone is also a good alternative to FP4+. I am waiting to try the (Efke)25 when I pluck up the courage to try it with Ilfosol .

You're absolutely right - the CHM are Ilford emulsions that are finished by Efke (Adox) in Croatia. They certainly don't make any films for Ilford!

Is this relationship between Ilford and Efke ongoing? I had heard that all similar deals were terminated when Ilford was in receivership, so that now to get FP4+ you have to find in or out of date old stock or buy the Ilford version. Anyone know if this is true (as opposed to conjecture).

A while back, I bought a couple of bricks of 35mm ORWO 125 from J&C. It was rebranded FP4+ and at a great price! They haven't had it in a while...
