I can't find out anything about this anybody know anything? It is a Super Ikonta 533/16, I've had it for years today someone pointed out that the front facade (ring) is brown to match the case, something I'd not think about, I just take photos with it. I looked online and every picture I can find has them in black and no articles about variants. The original owner was a lady, my aunt, Is this a rare thing ? were ladies able to order them in brown to match the case?

I have uploaded two pictures

I would suggest that it could be a question of fading paint. there are always 2 possibilities of making black colour: one comes from the brown side ("warm black") and one from the blue ("cold black"). this applies to paint making as well. if you expose a warm black to sunlight, it fades to brown, a cold black fades to a blueish gray. so maybe your camera has sat on display for some time and the colour faded.

I thought of that but it is far to uniform and other black painted parts that would have had equal exposure in such cases are still pristine black...

Hello,
I don't know if it's rare, but I think it's a "true" color ; I own different Super Ikonta's 533/16 (or BX) and one has brown on the shutter, not on the front. It also has a Zeiss Opton T lens and a Compur Rapid shutter.
It's uncommon but I don't think it's to match the case.
