Pyrocat-HD Capacity for Jobo 8x10 sheets?

I'm going to develop some txp-320 8x10 sheets in a jobo expert drum at 72 degrees for 12 minutes (normal dev) and would like to know for the 1:1:200 (printing on vc paper) what is the maximum amount of sheets you can process at one time? The tank holds 5.

Also, will the Arista odorless fixer (hardening) work ok?

I use the 3:2:100 mixture of Pyrocat-HD (pt/pd printing) with Tri-X, HP5+, FP4+, and Maco 820c IR films. I will only develop two sheets of 8x10 in the Jobo at once. I have no experience with the Arista fixer.

Why 1:1:200? I suggest you stay with 1:1:100 or 2:2:100 for rotary processing.

What is the total amount of solution your Jobo expert drum holds? In general I recommend that you use at least 250ml of the 1:1:100 solution per sheet of 8X10. Also, very slow rotation is recommended so set your Jobo to the slowest possible RPM speed.

Sandy, that was a typo. Shoulda read 1:1:100. Also, 4 sheets would be cool as 1000ml is the max the drum/motor will take. So, will I be safe with 4 sheets?

Yes, you should get optimum results at 4 sheets of 8X10 per 1000ml of the 1:1:100 dilution. In fact, all of my tests are calibrated at that dilution and amount. I test with 4X5 film and use 65ml of 1:1:100 solution per sheet.

I can not say for sure since I have never used this fixer. Do you now the pH of the fixer? If it is alkaline or just mildly acidic there should be no problem with the stain.

For my own work I use a mild acetic acid bath with Pyrocat-HD, and a mildly alkaline fixer. Moderate changes in pH in eithe direction will not have a great impact on the stain with Pyrocat-HD processed negatives.
