Pyro beginner

If i shoot a scene which requires a N- development according to the zone system to compensate for highlights does this need to be taken into account whilst using a stain developer such as pyro or not. As I have been told form different sources to base my devloping on 7 mins with constant agitation.

Time and money are tight at the moment so Im not in the position to eat film on tests.

Anybody willing to advise would be gratefully recieved

Hi Dustym
I have conducted tests with Pyrocat HD 1+1+100 and find that it is possible to acheive -1 and +1 densities, I am processing FP4+ sheet film in hangers in vertical tanks with intermittent agitation i.e. continuous lift and drop for first 60 seconds then two lift and drops each minute for remaining development time.
My tests show the following times:-
All at 20 degrees Centigrade.

Normal 125asa 12.5 minutes.

-1 100asa 8 minutes

+1 200asa 18 minutes

The densities were read on a Macbeth densitometer the times were adjusted to provide suitable negs for printing on grade 2 paper using a condenser enlarger.

Thats a start , due to little knowledge of pyro, I was not sure N-or N+ could be effectivley achieved.
