I'm planning on having some images printed as cards, possibly 8x6" size. Is there any one in the UK that has experience of a decent a decent printing company for that sort of thing? Ta.

I'm sorry if I go a bit off the subject here, but in the title, you call the cards "postcards". When I did the same thing here in Canada, I researched the Canada Post website and found that "postcards" were subject to Postal Regulations and had to be within a certain set of minimum and maximum sizes. Guessing also that "postcard" sizes have some sort international standards, I'm sure that 6"x8" won't travel as a postcard here.
Just thought you'd like to know.
cheers

Postcards used to have lower postage. But last time I checked the Canada post website they no longer charge any less. So I say screw the size limits for postcards and go big. The only issue is will they survie the handling. But I can't see a real reason to stick to the postcard standard size.

I would agree with you Nick as long as you don't mind a bit of extra $$ when you go oversize. A regular postcard is $0.50 and the next step up is oversize (and they also have a regulated size for that too ) and oversize is $0.85

Call it a letter. Looks like 1/2" longer and almost 1 " wider then the postcard standard. Or something like that. They used to try and charge letter rates if you wrote too much on the back of a postcard. OTOH it looks like the over sized is almost 11x14". Imagine telling somebody you're sending them a postcard and that shows up-)

The postage from Norway is the same for postcards and letters up to 20g. So I'm thinking of envelopes as an option - especially for the next one.

Hehehe - for the extra $0.35 it would be worth it just for the surprise value

Hi Richard,

I'm also looking for a good postcard company as I need to produce some cards in about a months time. I was going to try www.vistaprint.co.uk. They're 125 pounds + VAT for 1000 oversize cards.

Can you let me know who you eventually choose and what they are like.

Cheers

Mike

If you buy "Amateur Photographer" there are usually adverts at the back by 2 or 3 companies who will print short or long runs of post cards (various sizes). Haven't used them personally but there is one in N. Ireland which has been advertising for years which must say something I guess.
