Oh man, so excited on this! Here we go. The frame I'm going to print is chosen. Altough the print needs some burning I'm still going to do this, because this is so cool.

Glad to have you part of the exchange! I used to know what I wanted to print for this round, but as I develop the rolls from my latest trip I feel that an image or two might make the cut instead. Not sure when I can get in the darkroom, hopefully this weekend (or next) will work out.

Wow! I thought someone had received their postcard already! But I like the excitement. Not ready to choose or print yet, but soon.

So many possible images, and so little time to print. Must make time to play in the dark.

I will be mailing mine soon. My apologies to everyone for not printing in the darkroom, though I wish I could.

I look forward to seeing what everyone has in store! This is my first go-round!

My cards are printed and toned. All I need to do is label and post, hopefully by Saturday. I am looking forward another round of nice images from around the world.

Just received it; thanks very much. Lovely light and airy feel-do you know Josef Sudek's work at all?

Wow already?!??!

Good that you liked it. I don't know Josef Sudeks work but first glance is like wow - a golden tip. Thank you. BTW: can you suggest any of Sudeks books?

I too have received your postcard, thank you.

As said, yes, it does have a 'light and airy feel'. As for the subject, a fig plant, I have one too, whose leaves are currently going bright yellow and starting to fall off, but the fruit remain hard as stone.

It's been a strange year in the fruit and veg garden, with some things loving the heat and rain and others not doing well at all, when compared to an average year. I wouldn't of wanted to have been a farmer this year for sure!

With the change of seasons starting to happen, I'm sure that there will be some good pictures in the garden to take over the coming months.

A little side tracked there! So, thanks once more for the card.

Just a great bonus - a story to tell!

While I haven't received any cards this feels like a total success already and it feels like it has been already worth all the printing, cutting, glueing, stamping etc. So nice to hear that the card has reached it's destination and it's bubbling feeling just to think that most of the cards are still travelling. Pretty mindblowing in the world of social media and email.

Jouni,

Your card landed on my doormat yesterday morning. My wife picked it up and she was visibly suprised and amused by receiving such a nice card all the way from Finland with a picture of a fig plant she also has growing in our garden. The image has a certain "lightness" about it which I find very appealing. Very well done in capture and print. Thank you very much.

I will be sending off a card to you (and some others on the list) tomorrow and hope it reaches you soon.

Kind regards,

Bill

So nice to see the exchange getting to full swing!
I'm toning my cards today (polysulfide done already and selenium next when the kitchen is left to me alone), but I can see that it will take some time to spot-retouche all of them. Might take another week or so.
Hope to send them away by the end of October.

Plant connections  Really nice to hear that your wife got part of this postcard exchange too. And of course it feels good that someone has enjoyed my little contribution to this world of photograps. Thank you for the kind words.

There are numerous books around on him-you could start with the Photofile (Thames & Hudson) or Phaidon 55 (Phaidon) if you want a pocket sized introduction. There was an Aperture monograph on him published in 2004 if you want something more substantial. John Gossage ('The Pond') is somebody else you might find interesting, as well as Lee Friedlander ('Flowers and Trees').

I also have gotten veddostuu's card today and it is very nice, did not know that fig trees grew in the northern climates, they grow crazy around here, often producing more fruit than I can handle.
The second card is from DRPSILVER of a very intricate spiral pattern of a Cactus, a delightful composition.

I also received DRPSILVER's spiraling composition today. At first glance I could not believe it was a photograph of an actual physical object....so perfectly composed and toned as it is. Very nice work Darwin!

The plant-theme now covers 100% of the postcards I have received.
Did I miss out on some secret instruction?

Anyway DRPSILVER, my postcard to you is something entirely different is en-route. I hope you like it.

Yeah those grow but barely makes the fruits before autumn comes.

Wait.. wasn't this round themed "Plants" :O

Thanks for the tips Black Dog!

I will group my comments and gratitudes for some time now - so not to spam this thread on excitement :D

I also received the Cactus about a week ago. Great find, great execution.

Now I have my postcards printed, although a few of them are still drying. I'll try to get them out early in the week.
