Hi there,

My alias is my all time favorite film. Kodachrome 25. In looking for places to find some for a very important project, I have become a member here.

My real name is Daniel Bayer, a photographer based in Aspen, Colorado. I am a single 37 year old mountaineer who is pretty darn active.
I shoot stock, fine art and photojournalism. The subject matter varies but will often be outdoors and in the high country. Over 65% of my income is from stock of which is produced 40% analog and 60% digital. The ratio will swap places soon when I shift my projects a bit.

I am here not only because I enjoy film, which I do. I am also here because in light of digital, I see a wonderful niche market appearing on film that was not here a few years ago. The use of B&W film will further punctuate this new trend.

So...Here I am!

Hi Daniel, Welcome aboard. The Lincoln Creek area east of Aspen is one of my favorite places in your part of the world. I am sure that you will find for the most part that this is an informative group of like minded individuals.

With that attitude you will get a lot from this site. Welcome from across the pond.

Welcome Daniel from Hawaii. I grew up in Colorado (ColoSprgs), but haven't been there in over 10 years, so I'm looking forward to seeing some of your images in the gallery.

Bezerkeley,
welcome Daniel...I think we may have some mutual friends and climbng/skiing/mountaineering-biking/drinking partners in Aspen. Are you the guy taking under-river pics of kyakers? I spent some years in gwood working as a part-time bartender and a full-time dirt bag climber. I miss that valley and the people soooooo much. Once again welcome and good luck with your new project.

Happy Days
Mark

Back attcha-

Thanks everyone!

I am a member on one other big photo site and two other digital sites. I was a late adopter of digital for all the obvious reasons. I am really glad I found this site!

I make a good chunk from having digital available to me so it is a necessary evil these days, especially in a town full of photographers like Aspen. But other than that, I have plans in the works that will involve film only. I will be one who helps to keep film alive..

Shinn, That's the last name of one of my better climbing buddies. Not the same guy I figure, he is in Paonia now. I missed the valley folk too when I left for a year to shoot abroad. I could never leave at this point, it is a bulls-eye for my soul.

Cheryl, Good to meet Colorado folk! That's a nice little niche you have w/ black and white. I make it to the front range now and then for a few events and marketing reasons.

Donald, Lincoln Creek is a really neat spot that is still easy to get to.

Many of you shoot large formant which is in my near future so I will be picking your brains a bit. For instance, what would be the best 4x5 to haul to the top of a 14,000 foot peak? I can usually take a bit up there but obviously, the lighter and smaller, the better.

You'll also see me looking for Kodachrome 25 for the next few months. So if you hear of anything, let me know as it is really putting a dent in my production budget to pay $30++ a roll for the stuff. I need it at 6/2000 or later cooled and 10/2001 on non reefer. I am at 5 rolls and need about 10-20 for a project.

I'm off to bed as I will hit the slopes tomorrow.

All be well and well exposed.
