(*This main post will contain a list of updates)

Hi All,

Our current forum software base (xenforo 1.x) has reached end of life support, so I recently got up to speed on the latest xenforo 2.x and it is, without doubt, the most powerful and flexible forum software I've used. What we can expect from migrating to 2.x is our existing feel but countless improvements (mobile included). Every glitch we currently have or gripe about a broken functionality can be resolved in the new build. I'm working with our freelance coder and so far we've identified around 30 items that need re-coding and porting over to 2.x, and I would say upwards of 50 bug fixes and feature requests to be implemented. This is going to be a huge job and I'll post updates and teasers here when I can. I expect this to take 3 months or so. I'll also be asking for feedback along the way and additional feature requests.

Thanks!
Sean

Updates/Todo:

(dec 11-13th)
-register photrio.dev for new develeopment environment (done)
-setup DNS and web for photrio.dev (done)
-setup SSL (done)
-file copy over photrio.com prod data (done)
-backup photrio.com database (done)
-create .dev database, import prod db (done)
-re-configure photrio.com prod/db copy to function stand alone on photrio.dev (done)
-disable old prod mail routing in dev (done)
-update dev design elements to distinguish it from prod (done)

(dec 17-jan-feb) (all items perfromed in dev)
-download core xenforo update packages
-run through core upgrades
-build out list of all functionality/applications in Photrio 1.0 that needs to be re-coded and deployed in 2.0.
-install core theming and begin building out look and feel
-begin working with freelancers on re-coding apps, functionality and theming from 1.0 to 2.0 (this is the biggest part of the job)
-finish up all functionality aspects of the 2.0 system, hopefully by end of feb.

(march- onward basics)
-test system
-field user feedback and old feature requests + any new feature requests + implement
-test migration
-shut down prod
-run migration
-test if successful
-open site
-monitor for issues and fix anything that arises

Thanks and stay tuned!

Thanks! I appreciate everyone's patience over the years with various bugs or glitches that have persisted. I'm super excited to get on the new software platform which the xenforo team has built from the ground up. The main reason I am excited is that the platform is so easy to code for and manipulate. There is so much you can do without having to 'hack' the core system as everything is essentially plug and play. This allows us to dev faster and cheaper etc.

Hey, there was a major APUG upgrade a few years ago, so retitle this thread to be "Photrio 3.0 is in the works ..."

Did the fonts and/or sizes of stuff change in the last 12 hours? The thread titles and other writing look smaller and different.
Nothing has changed. You can try resetting your browser 'page zoom' settings, maybe you hit something by accident?

It looks "normal" now. I don't know if something wasn't translating right with our lovely rural internet? I didn't change anything myself, but who knows...?

Ok, revisiting the Photrio 2.0 build! We've had some major delays and one heck of a crazy year. I also picked up full time IT work at the local university (almost 1yr into that gig which is permanent and ongoing) and that has delayed things and left me scarce on time, but I am now in a position to pursue this until completion.

For my own motivation, I will create an update/todo list in this thread. An update log of sorts to keep people posted and to help me keep my eye on the ball. So, I'll start with the current section of work (main aspects listed):

Updates/Todo:

*UPDATE- check 1st post in this thread for current job list and updates, thanks!
