Nothing controversial here. This is a review about an old book on alternative processes. It was published in 1924 by the American Photographic Publishing Company, with later editions going to 1947. I got this one from abebooks, who have some available at the moment. I promise, I don't have stock in them or am I getting a commission
If you're into older books for your alternative process library, this might be an inexpensive addition. Lots of stuff on the familiar processes, plus a few I've never heard of. How to make your own POP emulsions. Lots of developer formulas. Exposure info for specific films and a large variety of plates. This would be of historic interest only, of course. Intensifiers and reducers. How to make your own pyrotechnic flash powders, sheets, and candles. I'm not a pyromaniac, and I don't want to burn my house down, so I won't mess with these... Dye mixtures to soak your "ordinary plates" in to give them orthochromatic or panchromatic sensitivity. Formulas for glues, metal blacking, and other things around the studio or workroom. I thought it was great for the price. Hope this is the right forum for something like this.
