Anyone interested in going in an photographic excursion in NY or CT, let me know. I shoot landscapes (see www.jrosaphoto.com) and am constantly looking for new sites in the NY, CT area.

I would love to join you. I am in Scarsdale, NY. If you are adventurous, I can recommend the following:

--Berkshires in Western Massachusetts (2 hours from here)
--Upstate NY / Borscht Belt decaying roadside bungalows (along route 17)
--Urban Bronx factories and street sceenes
--Harriman State park (beautiful wilderness).

BTW, where is the picture called "Gorge". Very interesting place.

It is a large mostly natural parkland in the Ramapo Mountains that goes from Suffern NY in the South to Bear Mountain in the North. It has many scenic lakes, streams and woodlands.

Harriman is a nice place to go for a hike with cameras. Be sure you actually hike though...parking anywhere but in designated parking areas gets you a ticket. I took one too many liberties with my view camera and parking on the side of the road and got myself a stern warning that the next time I'd be paying a fine. (the park police are less understanding than the rangers.) You also have to stick to 'established ways' which is officialese, I guess, for the beaten path. Essentially, the park, by car at least, is a drive-by-looking adventure. Have fun!

If anyone wants to do something in the city, I'm around. Schedule's tight, but I was able to make the get-together that Art Liem arranged for the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade (speaking of the local wildlife).

City hook up

David-I enjoy the city myself and would enjoy meeting you anyway. Lately I've been getting chased around by the Big Boys but I'm sure we could workaround that. PM me or I'll check back on the Post.
Regards Peter

Peter,

David's an absolute blast to meet in person. I am totally envious of that Voitlander (sp? actually, I don't even know if I got the brand right) that he carried around during Halloween. That was a very cool camera.

I am thinking of organizing a winter trip somewhere nearby as well. Will do some more research and organize when I get back from Toronto over the holidays.

I have a small group of photographer friends that I shoot with every now and then. The bunch of us met when we took a night photography course at ICP and have been shooting a few times since as a group. We're a mixed bag of analogs and digitals and every camera format in between!

Regards, Art.

Peter--sorry I didn't respond right away. I've been too busy to organize anything lately, but if someone else wants to organize something, I'll try to make it if I can.

Thanks, Art. I was shooting the Linhof Tech V 4x5" on Halloween.

Dave, I also get to Vegas periodically. My parents live there, and I usually have a meeting in the region once a year for something else, and my sister is in LA.

Please let me know when you are in town---I have 4 wheel drive vehicles and a home in the desert over by the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. Good photo ops.

NYC

Dave Wooten-just give a heads up as to when you might be in town. I photograph in NYC quite frequently and am presently doing a project uptown. Can always make time for a fellow APUG'er and LF person. Dave Goldfarb-Yes david thanks for your reply and I'm sure that we will eventually meet. Like I mentioned I'm in and out of there alot with my LF. Better to photograph now before the entire place becomes off limits. Been getting hassled quite frequently by the authorities but I just keep plodding on.
Happy Holidays to all, Peter

Thanks so much David and Peters,

I usually always bring 35mm and MF to the city but have been wanting to do some large negs-maybe I'll "Wee gee" it with the 4 x 5 graflex for my compact street set up and also bring the 7 x 17.

I actually might be in town in Feb. Don't know the dates yet...am usually between 50 and 51st street area. E mail is HacBety@intermind.net

my poor Russian for "in the light"
