Well, unlike the earlier models, it takes commonly available batteries. It is older, so that could effect its accuracy some. It is certainly a fine meter and one in good operating condition should be very accurate.

One question I have is what is your experience with spot meters and what do you plan on doing with it? A spot meter in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use it is much worse than an averaging meter.

A good working one is accurate. I have one and have matched it against the spotmeter in my F80.

However, this is the second one I've had. The first one was faulty and all over the place! The moral - Make sure you have something to compare it with. It's not crucial that it matches, just so long as it's consistant in the reading it gives.

Paul's right though, you need to know what you're doing with one. (I'm learning!)

I had one and it was accurate, but they are very prone to being knocked out on alignment if dropped or banged hard. I would try to get a used Pentax Digital Spot or a Soligor Digital spot. They take alot more abuse.

I have since replace mine beacause of that with a Pentax Digital Spot Meter and a Sekonic 558R.
