It would be really interesting if Kodak Canada would be willing to be a sponsor.

" Outline of the 1st Annual International APUG Conference"

Very ambitious and very exciting and deserves every effort to be financially assisted by manufacturers of photo products.

Is there going to be an attendance fee? Would a Subscriber get a different fee than Member?

Hmm...
Matt - I like the idea but would feel sorry for the schlepp they send who will be pounded with "Your company abandoned us" statements!
Hortense - Those questions are throroughly answered in these locations:

Bruce - "How Much: $75.00 Canadian for a weekend pass or 50.00 for a 1 day pass" it didn't mention any discrimination based on subscriber/non-subscriber

Actually, as I think about it more, it would give Kodak an opportunity, if they should choose to do so, of publically stating that they do not intend to abandon analog film, and intend to continue supplying markets like LF photography. To do so makes great business sense for them, because the success they are currently enjoying in the digital arena comes in large part, I would suggest, because of their reputation as a photographic company (as compared to an electronics company).

I think a pilgrimage to the "Camera Heights" area of Toronto, where Canadian Kodak used to have such a large presence, might be in order too. For those of you who are in Toronto, are there any remnants of Kodak's formerly large presence there still visible? Are there any abandoned buildings worth photographing?

Hi Folks

John Eric and I have discussed a subscribers rate to all the conference events and lectures.
Basically what we would like to do is give APUGers an advance price that John has outlined. We are hoping for advance bookings to get all of this in order.
We have an number in our minds of APUGers that we need to have to make this go well.
Once we are closer to the event we will start pushing local photographers who are not APUGers.
I am extremely happy with the instructors we have selected for this first conference. All are world class in their respective genres and we will have no problem filling the event with Local Participants, in fact we have not advertized in Toronto for this very reason. We would hope that subscribing members to APUG would be the first to join in.
As we get closer to the event the prices will possibly increase to give the first people a better rate than those waiting till the last minute.
To close down my facility for close to a week for set up and tear down is an enormous commitment for myself , partner and staff. A surge of commited entrys in the competition and conference would be huge kickstart to this event.
I don't want to sound ants'y but 11 months is not very far away and I would like to have a base of commited attendees to work from.

I would like to see SatinSnow, J&C as well as Ilford represented, since so many of us talk about, rec and use their products. Also, workshop operating photographers should be interested as well. I'd be more then happy to lend a hand to scout vendors and sponsers.
