There is a school that I am involved with here in Colorado that specially teaches dyslexic children. It is new and has just begun in the last year. It has had an enormous impact on the students so far and this fall the attendance is looks to be much bigger. As visual artists I am sure a lot of us can relate to the educational and self esteem issues these kids face.
Here is how you can help. The school http://www.hillsidelearning.org/ is having a fundraising event in October. This is going to be a community event that will get news coverage from the Boulder Camera http://www.bouldercamera.com/ and will be attended by many of the local artists and university types. We are soliciting all local artists and art groups here as well as the great photographers here at APUG to donate an artwork for a silent auction. This is a full 501c corporation so all U.S. donations are tax deductible. The details are being ironed out now and will be posted on the school website but I thought I would put this out now for anyone who would be generous enough to donate.
There will be an opportunity to display your bio and any other info with your artwork as the auction is conducted. This is where the exposure for the artist comes in.
I hope this isn't inappropriate to post this here but I thought it would be a great exposure opportunity as well as a good cause. If you have questions or want to donate a print, P.M. me or send me an email and I can give you details.
