OM4 Latch/Rewind Knob

Currently, the latch on my OM4 isn't connected to my rewind knob. When I pull up the rewind knob, the latch doesnt move, however if I pull up the latch (after unscrewing a piece), it pops the back open fine. So my question is, how do I reconnect the rewind knob to the latch?

probably have to take the top cover off. I would not do that myself on an OM-4, too much electronic stuff under the cover of that model, and there is a lot of circuitry around the rewind crank on an OM-4. Have a repairman do it. John Hermanson, a member of APUG, is the best for OM repairs. He used to be Olympus's service manager.

Ah, as I've heard. Unfortunately, I am student and have literally 0 cash except for film/developing chemicals...I'm just trying to get by

I'm a poor student too, working on my Masters degree. I just paid almost $200 to have a hasselblad lens repaired because of a broken spring. Something that costs as much as that does ($700 used) is not something I'm gonna risk f--king up just to save $200 (which seems like a fortune to a student, but is not much in the real world, especially when I KNOW I'd f--k it up if I tried!). John charges about $150 to fix an OM-4, which is a camera worth $300 if it is not beat up.

The bushing that the rewind shaft rides in has a thin washer in there with a ledge on it. This ledge has to be under the lip of the back latch. All this is pretty well hidden under the circuit board under the top cover. If you were able to pop the back open with a hook, it must be because the rewind shaft is out. You may be able to see the washer from where the film cartridge sits. Be very careful as a ripped circuit board will cause much bigger problems. I answered some of this on another forum.
