I recently saw a 50mm f/2.8 Olympus AF lens on the auction site and bought it for just over $15. It's in nice shape. I didn't have a camera to try it on so I got an OM-88, also for just over $15. Both the lens and the camera are working properly. I thought about an OM-77 but most of those have damaged battery chambers and battery covers. For this reason I am interested in getting the Manual Adapter 2. From the photos I have seen, the adapter wraps around the side of the camera. Does the adapter have to be removed each time film is loaded or removed?

AF Lens selection for the 88/101/77/707 is extremely limited. You are better off getting involved with an OM-1N or 2N. No, you don't have to remove the manual adapter when loading film.

I am aware of the limitations of the OM-77/OM-88 system. My plan is to pick up odd pieces as they become available and at reasonable prices. I have a modest OM collection. My OM2N needs work. My OM2S works but the batteries need to be removed between uses. Most of my OM photos have been taken with OM10s, OMPCs, OMGs and OM2000s. Apart from my Zuikos running from 28 to 200 and my OM mount lenses, I have the Auto Bellows with all accessories except the film strip stage, an 80/4 with two slightly different Auto Tubes and various extension tubes and close-up lenses. I also have a few Olympus flash units. Some of my other systems are much larger. I actually have more interest in the Olympus lenses than in the Olympus cameras. Separately, I have most of the Olympus IS system though I use the IS-3 more often than the others. My large collection of OM single digit focusing screens does not see much use.
