Anybody wanting to use a tripod for photography in NYC's Grand Central Terminal may be interested to know that it is possible to get a "special pass" to allow tripod use on the same day that you need it. I believe it must be after 10 am. You just need to go to the stationmaster's office and tell them how long you need the pass for. Then you can shoot anywhere on the floor level, as long as you don't block any ticket window. You are not allowed to set up on the stairs, but I was told that if you want to shoot from an elevated viewpoint, you can shoot from the Metrazor restaurant which opens at 12 noon.
