Bring your "spare" cash...Jim's bound to have a few hundred lenses that will just "happen" to be laying around. :D

I would love to come, but I doubt that Jim would allow a color photographer in his backyard. Seriously though, I wish I could come going to Nevada from Hawaii isn't that simple. We could, however, have a workshop over here.

Thanks, but I really prefer modern lenses.

I think there are more tourists from Hawai'i in Vegas than from any other single location. Then it's just a few hours drive up to Tonopah!

Actually, Vegas has the largest ex-pat Hawaiian community on the mainland; I've considered getting some of my stuff in Vegas galleries for that reason. Unfortunately, with two trips this year - May to Toronto for the APUG conference and October to Australia to photograph in the Outback - I'm not sure I could swing the time or funds to go in March.

Oh no! Those dates are on the end of my spring break so this could be doable.

May I ask what sort of things you do at your workshops?

Thanks,

Hey! No fair! How can I be at the Valley Photo Center LF Portrait workshop with the inimitable Suzanne Revy and a host of others and still make it out to Tonopah to shoot in the dry and sparkling air of the great west with the masters????

Cloning has come too late for me

If I am going to shoot little green men, I am sure the hell going to use color film!

I've got to be putting someone on a plane in St Louis on the 24th, so I can't make it. But I would've loved to have been there. Good luck with it!

Cheers, Richard

Matt,

It's VERY unlikely that Tioga will be open by March 23. Sorry about that...

Hi Jay. It's another 4 hours down to Tonopah from Winnemucca. Love to get you and Jon down here. Hoping to maybe do a session with the big studio camera up in my studio with some of the nice glass. 15X15' room so we'll have to play that one by ear.

I'm definitely up for this. Nothing like a road trip, combined with a photo workshop!

Just a couple of questions:
1) The most direct route from Boise, Idaho is 84 to 51/225 South, then I80 West at Elko over to 305 South at Battle Mtn, a jog over on 50 at Austin, pick up 376 South to 6 into Tonopah... What is 376 like that time of year? I love the idea of seeing the the Toiyabe (at least from the road... can't stop too long, gotta get to Tonopah!)

2) What accomodations are available in Tonopah... Camping, motels, squatting in abandoned mines?

Jim is working on Accommodations!

Hey, with Jim's reputation in Tonopah we should all receive breakfast in bed (or on location), free processing, limo pick up, transfer, and transportation from location to location...

Am I right?

One thing to watch out for: Jim is bound to have a ton of irresistable lenses, so guard your checkbook at all times while there!

Email me if you dare to come to Tonoapah in March!

Bring cash. Alas, I've not used it since I got it back. The poor man's PS945.

376 is fine 99% of the time. There are 2 8,000 foot passes right after Austin that occasionally get messy with a fresh storm or 2 but it's clear sailing afer that. I'm getting a price from locals who own the Best Western for a block or rooms.

I'm real close to 95, is taking 95 So. to Tonopah an indirect route?

Jay

I'd go Jordan Valley to Winnemucca then Battle mountain S. to Tonopah via Austin.
