Today when I was going to use my Mamiya 645 it just didn't work. The battery was fresh but when i pushed the battey control button the lamp didn't light up. The shutter wouldn't fire. After a while, fiddling with the mu-lever, the shutter finally worked, and continued to work after that.
It wasn't really cold at all, around 5C.
This is the second time this happens. Is this common? I still have a warranty on this camera, should I return it?
Maybe I just shoudlnt' have trusted these electronic shutters:confused:

Is it new? The black material on the back of the mirror and inside the camera can loosen and the mirror can stick.

No, It's old. The first model. But the shop where I bought it gave a 6 month warranty. Since it doesn't happen more than say every fourth film, it might be difficult for them to find and fix it.

I've got two m645 manual bodies and neither of them does this, but it sounds electrical to me. If the battery compartment ever had corrosion, it could have damaged the wires attached to the battery case, giving you intermittent contact, and since the shutter will not fire if the battery is not providing power, this is one possible source for the problem. I would at least take it in, explain the problem, and have them take a look inside to see if they can find anything. It is completely possible thet when they tested it it worked fine so they had no idea that there was an intermittent problem.

Trade it for a 1000s body if they give you the choice.
