My First Carbon Print

Hello, Everyone,
I'm so happy to have printed my first carbon print. There are lots and lots of mistakes but this my first step...
I have a question, this print was printed on cot 320 paper, single tranfert, I tryed also a double transfert, but I didn't have no result, I used as support a plastic,(I think it's acetate), but I didn't have transfer in it.
What did I wrong?

Nice first attempt. You discovered the bugaboo of every carbon printer - frilling. I use Yupo paper as the support and then use fixed out fiber paper as the final support (as per Sandy King's workshop I attended). Good luck!

Looks like you have some serious frilling. This would happen because the surfce of the paper on which you developed the carbon print did not have an adequate sizing. I strongly recommend the use of fixed out photographic papers when you are learning this process as it eliminates one potential major problem and allows you to concentrate on perfecting other things. If you want to continue with COT 320 I would suggest that you apply two or three separate coats of a thin gelatin, with hardener, and make sure that you give the sizing enough time to harden, which can vary a lot depending on what hardner you use.

Personally I believe that if you really want to use an art paper like COT 320 as the final support it is actually easier to prepare it for double transfer (with a fairly heavy coating of semi-hardened gelatin) and develop the image on some type of polyvinyl support.

Hi Sandy,
You are right, my first tissues hadn't right size, so now I 've prepared my magnetic frame bigger than my negative(more and less 0.5 cm bigger), I hope this help me to resolve frilling. I used COT 320 because I hadn't prepare fixed out paper, now I have some sheets, so I will be able to print with it.
