It's probably irresponsible of me to attempt to answer this before I know. But I MAY have one I could mail you. Would you be interested in that - providing I can find it?

Hello,

I've definitely got both parts of this manual in PDF before Minolta's site was down - they should be in my lab, so please give me your e-mail where I can mail it.

Cheers, Zhenya

I do have a copy of the manual for the flashmeter IV. If you send me an email I can send it to you.

If you go to Minolta light meters on ePay there's a seller who's selling all of Minolta's manuals (PDFs) on a CD-Rom cheap.

Manuals should be made available!!!

These people are ripoff and violate copy right law.

Can you explain why these manufacturers don't have PDF copies available for their customers? If they wanted to be cheap and money-grubbing they could charge for the darn PDFs or otherwise be courteous and professional and not charge at all. Isn't the correct operation of a company's product an important part of the selling process and indeed a benefit to the manufacturer? When manuals are not provided by manufacturers it says one thing to the consumer, "Screw you! You'll just have to buy the latest model if you want to know how to work it". There ought to be a law....

And yes, the "law" should apply to outfits who have gone belly-up also, for at least 8 years!

Minolta was always a good company for providing just about any manual you wanted, and they were available on their website, until such time as they stopped their photographic division, as far as providing them in the future, sony has publically stated that they will again be available for download, once the complete transformation is done as they will be also providing parts and service for the minolta gear.

Now, I would bring this point up, if a person purchases a used item and it does not come with a manual, the company that sold it to the original consumer has no obligation to provide a manual to the secondary purchaser, that would be the responsibility of the person that is selling the used product, I myself always file my manuals so I can pass them along if and when I sell something that I no longer need. You have to remember, if you purchase a used item, you are not the customer of the company that made the item, but the customer of the person who sold you the item.

I have been a Minolta shooter for over 25 years and they were always a top notch company to deal with.

The flashmeter IV has been out of production for much more than 8 years. The manual for it was on Minolta website until they went out of business early this year. The manual for the autometer Vf and flashmeter VI (the two that were in production before they went out of business) are still on their website. There is a manual that came with every unit they sold. Replacement manual was available until they went out of business.

I agree with Dave and Chan. Minolta was "One of the Greats" and own several SRTs, meters, and outstanding Rokkor lenses. Minolta is no where near the worst company when it comes to manual availability, but it seems like obtaining one should be a lot easier thus putting the bootleggers out of business.

I don't know that I would consider them "bootleggers" the CD manuals they are selling on ebay were freely available on Minoltas website and as with other manufactures that provided their manuals online, they were downloaded and compiled onto a CD, most of them sell them for such a low price that I think you would have a hard time in court saying they were selling the manuals over just selling the CD and recouping time spent doing the recording, for the most part, the companies don't really care, once they have made it publically available for download in .PDF format...
