Hello!

I got this lens from a friends attic..

I removed the back part off the lens , including the apeture ring to remove a load of fluff that was caught around the seal. I didn't take it apart any further. Now it's all cleaned up and the lens seems to function correctly off the camera apart from:

The apeture selector no longer clicks into place, it just travels smoothly through f1.7 to f22 and consequently when on the camera the springjust pushes the apeture ring right back to the start.

Have I really messed up here?? Help!

Cheers!

Hi Nick,
i think you´ve lost that (very) small ball that should be pressed to the aperture-ring by a (very) small spring that is located under the aperture ring.
Check your floor or (hopefully not) carpet under your work place....
Had the same problem and searched for about one hour (carpet)...
Good luck!

Hi!

Thanks for your post. Yep, you're right. Looks like that ball bearing is lost forever! :-(

Cheers anyway!
