mamiya sekor 500tl and olympus OM-g

my grandfathers had these and gave them to me. i would like to know some stuff about them. maybe a .pdf maunal or some just general info about the cameras.

The mamiya 500tl (dtl maybe?) is a screw mount camera. Very good IMHO

The OM-G by olympus is also very good, made by olympus, uses OM lenses.

thanks a bunch, i haven't developed any of the pictures i have taken with them yet but they are fun to use compared to the new fully automatic slr's which are fun also dont get me wrong =)

I used the mamiya several times, since a froend of mine had it.
It was a great camera and if your lightmeter is working you have a winner!!!!
You can buy more lenses for it in evilBay, look for the M42 lenses, the Sears brand are usually cheap and those are mamiya lenses.
But of course you cannot beat the quality of the Takumars (Pentax brand)

I know nothing about Olympus SLR's but I do own a 500TL. It's a pretty decent if pedestrian M42 mount camera. It's a stripped-down version of the 1000TL, DTL, MTL, etc. It has no self-timer or spot meter like the 1000's, however, it does have a stop-down lever of sorts. It is the wind lever. You merely push it in towards the body and the lens will stop-down then open as you release the wind lever- if the lens is an automatic. If you want to store the camera and shut off the meter, push the hub of the wind lever and the lever will retract automatically. Of course, one needs to have a working meter to have to really worry about retracting the wind lever. Many of these models' meters don't work and it isn't because the meter sucks, but the wiring leaves a good deal to be desired.

Anyway, you should find it to be a workhorse if you don't expect a whole lot of gimmicry or whiz-bang for your buck. I use mine as a dedicated body with my Novoflex auto bellows and Noflexar 105mm f/4 bellows lens. I wouldn't consider it to be a model to be used very intensely, there are simply too many other cameras that are much more useful and just as cheap in price.

the only reason i am using it is cause its fun, and he gave me a 200mm 3.5 sears lens with it which right now is the longest thing i have. i have been using a 50mm on a cannon rebel t2 for the past year, and dont have the $200 bucks for the 28-105 canon lens so i am enjoying a new (to me) lens, atleast until i get the first roll developed, and they are terrible... well i dont know they will proble be ok who knows?
the meter does work, and i have been using sunny 16 alot and bracketing. i will post some pictures up once i get them done (if they are worth keeping)

oh and i found a 28mm 2.8 on evil bay for $15 i'm pretty sure it was a vivatar
