Mamiya C33 shutter cocking query

My father has recently bought a Mamiya C33 with standard 80mm lens set.
All of the information I can find states that the C33 (and later C330) had automatic shutter cocking with the film advance. However, this one does not.

Does anyone know if perhaps there was some changeover period between the C3 and C33 where cameras were marked up as C33 but had C3 mechanics?

There are no signs of anything missing so it is a bit of a mystery at the moment.

C330 wierdo situation to watch for

C3330's are auto shutter cocking, however... some of the older silver series lenses longer than 135mm have an extension linkage ring to joing the auto cocking lever on the camera to the shutter cocking lever, which sits some distance forward of the body.

The tab that cocks the shutter on these extension rings can wear. The shutter 'look's like it is being cocked, but it actualy needs a little touch to fully arm it. Otherwise the shutter can be triggered, the escapement will make a noise, buth the shutter blades do not actually open. My low tech solution is to tape a note on the top barrel that reminds me 'shutter cocked?' for my lens that exhibits this problem.

This camera doesn't appear to have a cocking mechanism though. I am thinking that it is either a C3 with a C33 faceplate or possibly made up from a variety of spare parts.

Or perhaps a C22 with a C33 faceplate. The "2" series did not have automatic cocking.

To Mike's point, I did have a C330 once that did not have quite enough travel to cock the shutter. A piece of aquarium tubing on the final piece of that cocking mechanism solved the problem.

Which 80mm lens? If it is an f3.7 then it will not auto-cock, and it was never intended that it should.

Does the camera body have two arms on the lens board? One for the shutter trip (vertical motion) and one for the shutter cocking (arc coaxial with the taking lens)? Some people have modified C33 bodies to remove the autococking arm, but the cut-away on the lensboard should be visible.

If the body is missing any sign of an aperture for the cocking arm, then I would love to see a photograph. It would imply a C22 front plate.

Is the body covering leatherette or rubber with a fine 'M' motif? If it is rubber, you may have a C22 body.

If the camera has the cocking arm, and it moves when the film advance is turned, then it may be a problem with the arm not moving the lens shutter cocking arm far enough. That could be a problem with the arm or the lens mount. It is not easy to tell where the problem is unless you have more than one lens. There are a couple of fixes for this, but I would need to know more before recommending them.

Thanks for your responses so far. I will have to go and have another look. As far as I remember, there are no signs that the camera ever had a cocking mechanism so it could well be a C33 with C22 or C220 parts. If I can, I will get some detail pictures posted.
