Would any one know if the Majestic model 1600 geared tripod head originally came with an optional 3/8" camera securing screw? I have just acquired one of these in new condition but it has a 1/4" screw. I have the ability to make an adapter plate but need to ask the question first.

I think these are still in production. Google should turn up their website.

Yes, they are still made and sold. I do not have the url. I love my Majestic head and tripod but offhand do not know the models. I used to carry it into the field but it was a challenge.

Be aware there are two set-screws, one in front of the other, holding the knurled grip to the stem of the threaded piece. Backing the first one out will not loosen the stem, you must remove both set screws. If you buy the 3/8" adapter, they may include instructions with the piece showing the assembly.
