There is a good deal on an LPL 7451 enlarger (4x5") on the UK eBay at the moment: buy it now price of £269. Pickup from S.W. London. - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15225&item=3871188439&rd=1

I don't normally do this as I assume that if you are interested, you will already be looking, but this auction has a buy-it-now only price so alerting people will not push up the final price and will give UK APUGers a heads up.

Usual disclaimers apply - I have no connection with the seller.

Cheers, Bob.

I have used one of these before and looked at 5x4 enlargers many times. No matter how much I try, I could not fit a L/F enlarger in my loft space, much to my disappointment ! It is certainly a nice piece of equipment to use.

I recently bought a slightly battered example of these for £200, not sure why they don't hold their value, most probably I shall find out in the near future when I start using it.

I do somewhat, every time my measurements etc. draw a blank. The obvious way would be to reduce the height of my enlarger working surface but I have fitted so much storage space and equipment in the available area that I do not think I could actually move anything ! It is all somewhat academic just now as I have not been able to do anything in the photographic line for some weeks due to my hip operation. However, I see the surgeon tomorrow, it being seven weeks post op now and hope that the restrictions imposed by the operation can be relaxed to a large degree.

Hmmmm... someone hit the BuyItNow button & tried to scam the guy selling the enlarger. Scammer is (allegedly) in Singapore; new registration immediately de-registered after the BuyItNow; same name with minor changes did the same register/de-register thing 4 previous times; wants to pay by company cheque etc, etc - usual garbage... The seller is re-listing it.

Ho hum...

It's good to note that you retain your sense of humour through a trying time. I was going to suggest that you cut two holes in the ceiling and let your feet dangle through - but I won't.

A general warning as this is a new one on me - the scammers continue...

I bid on an AC1200 but a scammer put in a higher bid. I then received a message purporting to be from "Second Chance" offering me the enlarger at my bid price as the high bidder had "withdrawn"...

The "Second Chance" offer was in fact sent using eBay's "Contact Member" system, not "Second Chance" so at 1st sight it seems OK as it has all the correct eBay.com mail server addresses in the emal header. What the scammer can't change however is the "click on this button to reply" link which eBay adds to the end of the email - this of course points to a different eBay member than the original seller....

These people are getting annoying! I would have had a AC1200 plus bits for £285 without this scumbag.... I've notified eBay, the seller and the other people who bid in case the scammer contacted them too.

"Lets be careful out there"...

Cheers, Bob.

Ebay responded eventually with "this is not a scam - it's only spam".... So, someone contacts me pretending to be the seller and wants me to send then a few hundred quid and that's NOT a scam  ... Pathetic. One high explosive rocket sent back to eBay "Trust and Safety Department" (yeah, right) by return delivery - see if that wakes them up....

Spoke to Stewart at Nova Darkroom (for 'twas them doing the selling) - the scammer tried the old "I'll send you a company cheque for £2000 and you take your money, plus something for your trouble, and send the rest to my colleague who I owe, etc, etc, etc..." The email ended with "May God Bless You" - which is practically a signature of the Lagos Lads...

However... good news is, I did a private deal & picked the enlarger up earlier today. Only realised when I got back that I could have made a short 10 mile detour and visited Focus In Imaging at the NEC - ho hum... Can't install it until I can make room for it - besides, I'm in the middle of making contacts of the Lake District extravaganza...

All's well that ends well (unless you are one of the people scammed by eiaop14 (a.k.a. sacubani0200@yahoo.com) while eBay ignores my scam report)...

Cheers, Bob.
