I just bought a new Meopta Opemus 6a with the Color 4-ES head today. I've finished setting it up, but noticed a rattling noise inside the head.

When I opened the head, there was a loose piece (see photo). Anyone know what this piece is supposed to do, or where it's supposed to go?

That aside, the enlarger works fine (or seems to).

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Also, the color head has two levers on the sides. One is the white light switch (move filters out of the light path), the other one I'm not sure. I can turn it round and round, and it does nothing.

Doesn't look familiar and just looked inside my colour head, can't see anything that looks like that. As you old saying goes if it ain't bust don't fix it, so if it's working well just add it to your collection of unknown finds. I got a couple of things with mine that don't seem to go anywhere

You'll find the manual here Meopta

Have fun they are wonderful beasties

I opened up the color head again to see where it could have come from. I'm pretty sure it's from the lever that toggles the ND filter (i.e. swings it in and out of the way).

TPPhotog, is it possible for you to get a photograph of your color head so that I can use that as a reference? I'm looking at the lever nearest the ND dial. There should be a piece that is moved by the lever to push the arm that controls the ND dial out of the way.

Justin,

I have an earlier head and foolishly assumed they would be quite similar inside (they usually are). Looking at the manual on the Meopta site they look very different. I think maybe a PM to Ole would be useful as he might have access to the version you have.

This thread I posted just before I got mine might also provide a few names here that may be worth dropping a PM to  (there was a url link here which no longer exists). Sorry I've not been a lot of use on this one

Good luck with your search, they really are worth having.

Tony
