Light Seals? or other problem?

In my first roll of film in a new (to me) Pentax Super Program I have a couple of photos with a lighter streak in dark areas on the bottom of the film.

I am not seeing this in all of the pictures from that roll (perhaps 4 from the roll) here are a couple of additional photos from the same roll. http://www.ieblog.net/permalink/5331

Any thoughts on the cause, and repair? Would like some confirmation that it may indeed be the light seals before I start my first camera repair.

I don't know. The jagged nature of the white looks unlike what I have seen as definitely a light seal problem.

I'm probably not one to take advice from, but the two pics you show with no streak, look like it's dark and there wouldn't be a leak.

I hope I'm seeing the right thing. Are you talking about the streak across the guys jacket?

The streak across the jacket is exactly what I am talking about. I will try to upload another example tonight.

Ok, (crappy monitor/puter combo) It would seem that the light appeared in the shot taken in a lighted situation, therefore light leak. Good luck. I know how the used camera game goes.

To me it almost looks like a reflection from the highlight on the wall. Possibly lens flare of some sort--hmmmm....

Eighteenth street station on the No.1 line, I know that subway station. The lighting in there is really crappy. I'm also inclined to think that it's probably just some lens flare. Were you using a filter? Did you use a lens hood? Filters can cause extra flare. A lens hood is pretty effective at controlling it.

So you went to Adorama?

No filters, and using an SMC lens (although super multi coating only goes so far).

*laugh* yep went to Adorama and couldn't wait to try out the camera. I wonder how many pictures there are of this station for that reason? I had the lens cap off when advancing the film and the (cropped) shot across the platform was an accident. The lab developed all 39 shots on the roll of 36 the other "bonus" shots were out of focus floor tiles.

If that was a "bonus" while loading, then it most likely is from light leaking into the film cartrige at the leader.

Not a bonus pic, but one near the front of the roll. I will run another roll through it and see if this is a repeating problem (would worry about this ruining a shot if I hadn't put a roll in before I saw the results.
