This post is intended as a service for those who have and use the Durst 138S enlarger and are confronting the demise of the Thorn lamp for this enlarger.
I have developed an alternative retrofit using a 1000 watt lamp for this enlarger. My results with the higher wattage lamp have been very good and result in greatly reduced printing times from those experienced with the 250 watt lamp.
