tell me more. Not to open old wounds, but I'm a little hesitant to subscribe to a small press run photo mag. Is it a good magazine? it looks good.

I've looked at it, and it does look interesting. I'm not sure, but I think they may have been an APUG sponsor at some point. I know I've seen Light Leaks on APUG.

It's a lot of fun, and with the odd surprise. Lee Frost was a guest editor one issue. They have a reader submission gallery in each issue, and I'm constantly amazed. They often have a writeup on a different crappy camera or a modification you can make to a holga or diana. It's quarterly and a bit pricey, but kind of an antidote to some of the other snobby publications, and fully film.

Who knows what the future will bring, but I think this is all part of the intriguing and refreshing backlash against the digital scorched earth.

Another new magazine (and photo sharing website) that makes some room for low fidelity photography is JPG. They are officially agnostic on the film vs. digital, but they frown upon Photoshop tricks and manipulated images. The latest copy has an article on colour-shifted expired film, in-camera 360 degree panoramas (with careful manual winding of a Holga or similar) and acrylic transfers. All of the content is user-submitted, so its large on diversity and low on annoying ads. Go to www.jpgmag.com.

Light Leaks is a great magazine published by a true toy camera enthusiast. Well worth the money IMO.

It is great magazine. Sort of the View Camera Magazine for toy camera aficionados, except it has a professional graphically designed layout, and apparently they also have a grammar and spelling editor on staff.

Light Leaks has been around for a few years now. Don't worry--barring financial disaster (always a possibility these days, sadly...not just to magazines but to anyone), it's not going away anytime soon.
