I enjoy using Arca style quick release L plates, but have been frustrated by their lack of availability for many of my cameras. For travel I have a minimalist rig of carbon fibre tripod, leveling base and an Arca style clamp that incorporates a panning base. So there is no option of flopping the head 90 degrees. Really Right stuff makes a generic L plate, and after carefully reading the online measurements, I ordered one and headed to SK Grimes. With a minimum of milling to remove a small amount of the front lip, it fits very well on my Bronica 645RF, and I can change films, but not batteries without removing it. With more milling on the short leg of the L, it fits a Contax G2 (in this case, the lip secures against the back edge of the camera's baseplate, not the front.) The other thing I like is a handstrap: after using a Rollei 6008 for so long, it is second nature. Adam Dau was able to drill and tap the base of the bracket and insert a rod to anchor the lower end of a handstrap (also ordered from RRS), the top end of the strap is looped through the Bronica's strap lug.
