I am selling a Kiev 4 from 1974 (SN# 7425516). Included is a Jupiter 8 lens.

The cosmetic condition is good with no evidence of abuse. The shutter fires correctly at all speeds and the shutter curtains look good. The rangefinder patch is aligned and accurate and has acceptable visibility. The meter appears to be non-functional (as is typical) and the self timer does not seem to work (it winds down, but does not fire the shutter).

The lens has basically clean, clear glass with no haze, fungus or other "show-stoppers". The iris blades are clean and the click stops very positive. There are some fine hairline circular cleaning scratches on the front element, but not nearly enough to impact use.

A take-up spool is included.

All-in-all this is a good user grade Kiev and it should be a fine picture taker. The Kiev 4 is a good first system-rangerfinder if you are interested in trying this format and it won't break your bank. Many good compatible lenses and accessories are available. I think I've set a reasonable price.

Price: $50 plus shipping. I ship to most countries

I can vouch for David......buying from him is a NO RISK situation. I have purchased many items from him and the items were all better than described.

Will the lens focus correctly on a Nikon S2? I have a Nikon S2 body without a lens.
To put it another way, should the lens be able to focus correctly on a Nikon S2?
I know there's a slight difference between Contax and Nikon focusing, but where does the Kiev fit in?

I have a sale pending on the Kiev and lens. Contax and Kiev are fully compatible. Compatibility between the Nikon and Contax mount is a murky subject, but as I understand it for wide angle lenses the focus errors are small with respect to the depth of field. It also depends on whether one is using Nikon on Contax, or Contax on Nikon and there are even lens specific incompatibilities. Longer lenses require significant focus compensation (best to avoid them). I think 50mm is about as the longest one would mix the two lens systems and this may require scale-focus corrections at wider f-stops.

I have heard of Contax Sonnars being used on Nikon RF bodies, but pay attention to the focus corrections (there are Web sites and forums that discuss this at some length). The Sonnar and the J-8 are quite similar so that implies the J8 would probably be OK.

By the way, probably because they made so many of them, the Nikon 50mm F2 and F1.4 Nikkors for Nikon RF are not too expensive and are exceedingly good lenses - amazing really. Most of the other Nikkors are pricey, sometimes extremely so.
