I bought a JOBO 2521 tank to develop 4x5 it does 6 sheets at one time.On the top there is a opening to pour liquid in .Is there a cap to close this opening?, I sort of know now but need confirmation. I never seen one up close. Any help is appreciated.

Greg,

Yes, there is a semi-flexible cap that should have come with the tank. You can buy replacement caps from Jobo, and probably other places.

If it's really a 2521 lid then you are looking for the red rubber cap. OTOH it if it's a 2523 cog lid then no. If you've got a cog [gear] around the top of the lid then it's a cog lid.

Henry's was selling various Jobo odds and ends on Ebay. Mostly too expensive. Best would be to add it onto a B&H order. The rubber caps aren't too expensive but with B&H shipping charges it's not worth it.

Are you using a processor, or what? Quite possibly I could mail you what you need. I can send photos later of item I think you are talking about. Since I am on the other side of the continent and mail being what it is -you may prefer to go local.

It is 2521 tank and it has cog wheel around the top ,also has a red ring which is a seal I imagine around the opening. I bought it to use for inversion developing. So obviously liquid is going to spill without that cap. Hmm...
If I new how it looks like I might be able to manufacture one. I don't have processor.

That's a 2523. It could be a 2521 that somebody upgraded to a cog lid but that lid won't take the red rubber cap. Replace the lid with a basic lid and then it's back to being a 2521. But with that lid it's a 2523.

First choice would be to find a rubber stopper that fits. Try wine making stores. Second choice would be to buy a second used tank with the right lid and rubber cap. Third choice would be to buy the plain lid and rubber cap. Third choice isn't worth it IMHO. You can almost buy a whole new 2551 tank for the same money.

The rubber cap on the lid looks like this one:

The page with for the 2500 series shows a lid like yours.

That's a cog lid.

Greg,

if you don´t need the cog wheel, you can remove it by cutting it with a Dremel - it´s only "stuck" onto the normal Jobo top. Call Jobo and ask them if they ship the single replacement red cap on order - Jobo germany does, at fair cost, so your national distributor may do, too.

Or ask your photo gear dealer - most can order _any_ spare parts from Jobo for you. The cap costs 1,60EUR in Germany, I just got one from my mail-order dealer.

As a workaround for now, you can try a trick I read on the net - a champagne cork - the "mushroom" shaped type- fits the opening and seals it as does an empty can of Agfa film.

I have an extra lid without the cog that I would be willing to trade for yours with the cog attached. it is a paper drum lid, but that just means we need to undo the center section inside as well. The lid I have has never been used and comes with the red cap. PM me if you are interested.
