My medium format traumas are over!

Having picked your collective brains some weeks ago regarding the merits of TLR cameras, I completely ignored everyone's extremely thorough and useful advice, and went out and bought a Mamiya 6 instead. I only collected it last night, so have shot just one frame so far (the view from my living room sofa - inspired, I'm sure you'll agree), but am really looking forward to giving it some lovely outings to the seaside etc and getting to grips with the square format.

It came with 50mm, 75mm and 150mm lenses, all in pristine condition, so I know the gear's up to the job - it's just a question of whether I am!

I've seen a few of your images in the mag. You're up to the job! However, I haven't seen *enough* of your images in the mag...

All the best for the new camera. Enjoy it!

Congratulations on your new machine. The lens set seems ideal.

We're all agog to witness the view from your living room sofa...even if it includes your feet! ;-)

Great choice Ailsa, when I was looking for a MF system it was either the Mamiya 7 or the Hassleblad. The blad won out, but not because it was better, only because it had more lenses available. Happy hunting.

You'll love the camera. Just a 35mm on steroids. The larger negatives are wonderful, and easier (for me at least) to process than 35mm.

Alisa,

I've had one for years (with just the normal lens) and I love it! Only my Rolleiflex with f3.5 Planar lens can match the sharpness of the Mamiya's optic. It is just about a perfect camera. If I could change anything I would make it more robust (the film winding mechanism can be broken if you abuse it, just like the old Bronica S SLRs, so wind on slowly) and I would give it at least 1 mechanical shutter speed that was battery independent. Enjoy and please post results!
