Looks as if I may have an opportunity to visit Israel in early June this year. I'll be there on business so, won't have much time. Likely stay in either Naharia or, Tiberia.

Was there last year at about this same time but, the boss was along and we didn't get much time away from the office. Rolled into Acco at sundown one night...I could have spent a week there.

Any suggestions for places to see, places to eat? What's the cannonical travel guide?

Tiberas is nice and historically significant. Since you won't have too much time it might be good to concentrate on spas, tombs (for example Rambam) and Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). If you have time on you hands and Tiberias is not enough then there is Safed..

If it will be Naharia, I think the caves at rosh hanikra are very interesting. Be carefull with your equipement though, they are very wet. Ako is certainly the next interesting spot.

If it will be Tiberias, Try to reach mount Arbel.

The weather is likely to be very hot.

Enjoy,

Michael

Israel

Hi, there

I actually live in Israel, and was just near Naharia last week. There are lots of places to see besides Rosh Hanikra, and Acco is certainly worth a look, especially the arab old city. There's really a lot to see and photograph, so it really depends on where you'll be based and what kind of photography you want to do. Contact me by email and I can help you out once you know more. A great restaurant outside Naharia, one of Israel's best, is Adelina, in Kibbutz Carmi. It's about 15 minutes out, definitely worth a visit. Get in touch w me and I'll be glad to help out. If you're in Tel Aviv where I live, we can get together and I can show you around some. Israel is definitely one of those places where you get a lot more out of it if you know someone living there.

Thanks everybody who responded. I'm tenatively travelling for the third week of June. Unfortunately, personal issues back here at home will mean that I won't get to take any extra time on the back side to tour  .

I'm staying in Naharia and working in the Teffen / Midgal (?) industrial park. I've been there once before. Really, really beautiful country. For those of you here in the US, it's nothing like the image that the corporate news media brainwashes us with.

Was hoping to get out to the sea of Galilee this time but, am not sure how I can work it in to the work schedule. I have a ton of stuff to cover with my Israelli counterparts.

I'll definitely be making time for Akko - this time during daylight hours!

Oh, and Gabriel, thanks for the restaurant tip. That is much appreciated as I will be on my own as far as finding food at dinner time. In Haifa, we had not much trouble but...I'm not sure what to expect around Naharia.
