is the graflex back on an RB easily upgraded to graflock?

OK, I took the plunge and I have a Super Graflex RB series D on order.
Has the 190mm Ektar on it.
I have no idea if the curtain is in working order yet.

Soo... It looks like it has the graflex back on it. I have a complete graflock back on hand.
Can I just install the graflock or will there be some problems with the reflex ground glass registration?

No, it is not a simple matter of mounting the graflex after taking loose the graflock. I had one that I considered doing this to, and changed my mind :confused:

Seemed to me I saw some instructions on the net, and will look through my bookmarks and see. SK Grimes does it, but it is a little pricey,

You will have to raise the ground glass if you add a Graflock back as it is deeper than the Graflex you are replacing.
But consider for a moment - do you really need to do that? Maybe, if you already have a full set of Graphic back holders but, if you don't ,you can find Graflex dark slides, roll holders, Grafmatics and 12 and 18 bag magazines that are designed for your existing back.

It's a bitch to try and do by yourself. SK Grimes will do it for 250 bucks and you never have to worry about it again.

Thanks for the info guys. Will the standard grafmatics work? Or are there special ones just for the graflex back?

No, there are two flavors of 45 Graphmatics. Catalog 1168 is for Graflex, 1268 for Graphic. There is a decal on the back saying Graphmatic for Graflex or Graphic and the catalog number. Also, the Graphic one has a ridge across the top, just like a standard sheet film holder, the Graflex version has a slot matching the ridge on the Graflex back.
I have no financial interest in it, but I notice that there is a Graphmatic for Graflex on epay right now as well as a 45 bag mag. There are instructions for these on the Graflex.org site.

Curiously, the 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 size of the Graphmatic is designed to fit either a Graphic or Graphlex back - to my knowledge the only accessory that will fit either back.
