Introduction and ramblings

Hello, my name is John Bell and I live in Cornwall UK, I go under the screen name of jobel60 because that is my email address and makes life simple.
I have some ideas that I want to put forward to everyone but please don't think I expect them to come to fruition, they are only ideas.
I don't even know if this is the right place to post them but I have to start somewhere!
I really like this site and hope to contribute something to it, which is more than I can say about my performance on other sites: they have all been taken over by digi. That is not to say I am anti digi, just that I want a site that I can relate to.
I have read a great many posts from the site and I really do like the idea of a " community " of people that can relate to each other in their photographic and personal lives and can share the passion that drives us all to take pictures when we could be playboys or line dancers!
I won't go into why I love photography - each person has their own thoughts on it - but I will put forward some suggestions that eveyone can read and can respond to or disreguard as is their wont.
These are just idle ramblings but they are the sort of things I would like to see on the site, even if it's just a couple of people.
A pic of someone elses darkroom; not for status but because sometimes we think we have the perfect set up but feel it's still not right and then we see someone else's and they have put a simple light or coat of paint and we kick ourselves and think " why did'nt I think of that! "
A gallery of pictures that don't mean a lot except to the people who took them but explaining why we like them, even if it is for sentimental reasons.
A room for sharing tips on the building/ design of a darkroom i.e. I could'nt afford a proper sink so I went to the scrap yard and got an old shower foot tray, it cost me £1.00, it works brilliantly!
A room for tips on simple developing skills: before I got a drying cabinet I would take my developed film into the shower with me, wait until the bathroom was steamy, take it out of the tank, rinse me and the film and then hang it at a 45 degree angle on the curtain and never got a wash stain on it ever! Perhaps these rooms could be combined.
A translation room - from Brit/Chinese/ Austro Hungarian to American, i.e when I say I am pissed and rolling a fag I mean I am drunk and making a home made ciggarrete: I am not robbing a homosexual when I am angry! lol Just joking!
There are many other thoughts in this simple brain of mine but I have bored you enough, please post back your thoughts on my ideas

Welcome - I think most of the things you've suggested have been discussed at one time or another. Except for the translation from English to American. That's probably hopeless.

Think Cornish may be missing from the list of languages for translation ! I have a feeling of deja vu here. I can remember asking a new member recently which part of Kernow thay came from, it may have been you if you have already "checked in". Welcome, anyway.

hello again, please ignore my first letter, I wrote a list of things that I thought the site could use and a list of things it already has and spent the night in the darkroom then had a couple of drinks and then wrote the letter. It must have been the fumes!lol because I confused the lists and started to babble about everything except the things I meant to say!
Now you can see why I dont contribute to many places! Anyway, I will keep quiet and carry on trying to post some pics, they scan really badly especially in jpeg but I never alter any of my images in photoshop.
I will only write if I have something sensible to say.
