Hi All,

I've just discovered this great forum in the last fews days. There is so much information, knowledge and experience here, it will take weeks to read through it all!!

I live in Melbourne, Australia and my day job is designing database software, GUIs for a freight forwarding company.

So far as photography goes, I completed my photography diploma back in 2002 by studying part time over many years. From my study experiences, I gave away 35mm (literally!) to "focus" (get it!) on medium and large format.

We had to shoot medium format in 2nd year so I got hold of a used Mamiya RB67 with a 90mm lens...I added a 65mm a couple of years later. I still take it everywhere!

Early this year I was lucky enough to get hold of a Toyo 45G, 3 lenses, viewing hood, Polaroid back, a dozen double dark slides for A$900 (eBay!)

My main interest is fine art but I enjoy all aspects of image making.

One thing I've learnt is that there's always something more to learn/discover and serendipity is a wonderful experience!!

Welcome, Gerard. You hit the nail on the head, this is a good place for analogue photographers to hang out and learning something while doing so.

Welcome!! I'm always glad to hear from someone in one of my favorite places; in fact, I will be passing through Melbourne in September on my way to Bright, Vic. for 10 days. I'll probably be coming from Hobart. This trip, I'll be doing almost exclusively 4x5.

Hi Gerard!

It's good to have you here. I do not shoot medium format, but I am learning bits about it so when the opportunity presents itself I will be prepared!

I'll be looking forward to seeing yor photos in the gallery!

I've actually been to Bright several times; I generally meet friends there who travel up from Melbourne. I like to wonder around Mt. Buffalo National Park, and the farmlands in the area - I live on a small island, and enjoy the change of scenery. I may stay in Porepunkah this year (how is that for a small town) I usually drive down from Sydney, the drive is quite enjoyable, although I still prefer to drive on the right <vbg>. I'll drop you an email before I leave, thanks.
