These lenses came with a 8x10 Deardorf and wonder if either will work on 8x10.
Goerz Dagor 9 1/2 inch f6.5 with old Betax No. 3 shutter
Kodak Anistigmat 170mm f6.3
I don't think the Kodak will but wonder what the quality would be like with 4x5 or 5x7.
Thanks in advance.

I am pretty sure the Dagor covers, IIRC I got one with a Kodak 2D 8x10 and it covered 8x10 with movements.

Your 9½" Dagor is really a Whole plate lens, however it's a mild wide angle lens on a 10x8 camera stopped down. I use a 12" Goerz Am Opt lens on my 10x8 Agfa Ansco, and it's a nice lens in a Compound #3. Dagors have excellent contrast.

The 170mm f6.3 Anastigmat is designed for 5x4, it's a Tessar type design. There was also a 170mm f7.7 Anastigmat but that's a Dialyte design.

The Dagor... yes.

The Kodak Anastigmat... I doubt as it's often seen on 122 film cameras for 2-12/4 x 5-1/2 inch "postcard" negatives. [EDIT; added: I've used one for 4x5 Polaroid sheet film, quite a while ago, and was very impressed by both coverage and quality.]

I also have a Caltar 12 inch. How would that work? Any idea where I can get a retaining ring for the Dagor? The lens board it came with has the right size hole but the ring has been removed.

I have the f4.5 version of the lens and it's marked 4x5. It came fitted to a Butcher Popular Pressman SLR but is very poor condition. As with all Tessar type lenses the f6.3 versions are the sharpest.

I also have a Caltar 12 inch. How would that work?

That will cover 10x8, it's a Tessar type lens, supposedly a clone of the 12" f6.3 Commercial Ektar.

The Dagor easily covers 8X10 and some old Burke and James catalogs would sell them for 11X14 which it will NOT. But they'll just reach around 10X12 which makes them a perfect wide field lens for 8X10. The 170 will just cover 5X7 with no movements and is a fine lens for 4X5.

I should have added the chart I posted earlier in this thread is the Goerz Am, Opt. data for the Dagor's coverage. They clam 14"x11" at f45, but as that's not an optima f-stop 12"x10" is more realistic.

SK Grimes would be a good source for a retaining ring

Here are a couple of quick shots with the lenses. Cropped with little processing.
