OK, I am going to be doing a workshop soon with an unknown printer and I was looking for a way to create a curve real fast for people who don't want to learn QTR or PDN.

So I was playing around with ChartThrob. Everything went real well until after I printed the chart and ran the analysis. The curve is clearly there in a layer, but sadly, I can not figure out how to save it as an .acv file for future use. There seem to be a number of ChartThrob users here so hopefully someone can help.

I am using CS3 on a 24" Intel iMac.

Sandy, it's real simple; just click on the curve icon on the curve layer of the chart you ran ChartThrob on; that opens a curve dialogue box with the curve applied; then if you click on Save, that saves the curve.

Katherine,

That is what I expected, but when I do that with CS3 there is nothing for me to click on to save.

I saved the image with the curve layer and opened it with CS, and sure enough there was a box to check to save.

CS3 is fairly new to me and obviously some settings need to be changed.

OK, I found out how to save the .acv file with CS3.

When you click on the curve and open the dialog box there is a menu at the top that says CUSTOM. Just to the right of this menu is a very small box, with an arrow at the bottom. If you click on this box you are offered the opportunity to save the Preset as as custom .acv.

It is very annoying when new versions of Photoshop throw this kind of curve at your. All of the previous versions I worked with had a big dialog box for saving the file.
