One of my DSLR's is spectacularly good EXCEPT that it has no viewfinder. It's wonderful in any kind of moderate/low light but glare on the screen makes it hard (almost impossible) to use well in very bright desert-style light (probably same in snow).

Soo..... my Hoodloupe (hood+loupe) is a nearly perfect solution except that it doesn't mount/attach on camera. Hoodman does make kit for that purpose but it's bulky.

What I'm after is a DIY solution....something that mounts on the Hoodloupe (not on the camera) and positions it immediately for use.... perhaps a lucite or even wooden thing that would bolt onto the Hoodloupe and guide it perfectly to the screen without having to fiddle around.

Any ideas? Have you cobbled-up your own DIY solution?

This might be especially useful for Samsung orphans since we have very good 26MP APS cameras but are now orphans.

Self-adhesive Velcro, one part on the back surface of the camera , one part on the hood.

Thanks awty, makes easy sense. wiltw thanks, but my cameras don't have big back surfaces.

It does not take much area! I just took my old Canon 40D, and my 6x magnifier with lens removed (IOW not even intended originally for use as a hood!), and married the two with narrow strips of Velcro

proof that the idea works!

I just find the Velcro is stronger than the adhesive over time.

Hi awty. I have several...the best is NX500. Sadly I've come to appreciate it more and more.

Might even buy another if the price comes down far enough. Amazingly good camera overall.

Have you read more about this? I do actually use my NX500 almost daily... .last night I "happened" to bring it with me to a bistro in Bernalillo NM and shot a gawdawfully bad band... Pueblo Indian kids wearing beatle wigs, black suits and ties...couldn't avoid photographing them and will try to track them down to send prints... will post here as soon as I've figured out how... Like your NX300, probably, the NX cameras work beautifully in low light. I was thinking about dumping my NX500 but am now wedded to it.

That is too bad - I was given an NX500 that I'm looking to re-purpose for film digitization, so I would have been mildly interested in seeing the line revived.
I do find it funny though how difficult it can be telling apart real camera announcement's and April Fools camera announcements . In the digital camera world, the availability of extra jargon makes it even harder to differentiate the two.

It was fake news and a real bummer.

fwiw I find the NX cameras with Pentax adapters great for digitizing slides, though I've not figured out how to get full frame 35 from APS-C files... I've used a few of them for 11X17 inkjet and been able to compare to old Ciba and C prints and am impressed by how well the original Kodachromes work that way. But I'm a lot happier printing directly from my current modern-times NX photographs.

In the end I've decided simply to keep the Hoodloupe at the bottom of my Eagle Creel camera bag, replacing the extra lens that I hardly ever used anyway. The Hoodloupe is easy enough to use in the few situations where it's really necessary, as in ultra bright glare. Better simply to remember "mad dogs and Englishmen" rhyme about "mid-day sun".

Eagle Creek, not Eagle Creal. They may be out of biz but I have two sizes that are perfect for two different camera kits.
