I know this sounds like heresy, but I am currently using Ilfosol-s to soup my Tri-x !!! It was the first dev I ever used 19 odd years ago, and as they say, the first is always special ! Anyone else brave enough to admit a liking for Ilfords much misunderstood potion ????????

I've used it with much success; nothing wrong with the stuff. I've since got into mixing my own which is much cheaper, therefore no more store-bought devs.

Thanks guys, beginning to think I was odd ! (My other regular dev is HC-110 dilution H, as per one half strength dilution B.) Have been rating my Tri-x @ 200 ASA, and deving for 6 mins in Ilfosol 1:9 20C ........Shadow detail awesome, and whites easy to print on G 2.5 Ilford warmtone MG. This one also seems sharper ie better accutance !

How do the results compare to those done in HC-110?

Welcome to APUG!! I love Ilfosol-S! I have not used it in a while... it bugs me how it "goes south" so quickly. I just do not develop enough film to warrant buying it & having to pitch it cause I'm scared to death it's lost potency.

Ilford... if you're listening... could you please give that stuff a little more staying power??? (That's all a BWGirl could hope for  ).

I think the key is to keep air out as much as posssible ! I use glass marbles to replace used volume of dev .....

I used it for many years but also grew tired of it's open bottle life span! I generally keep LC29 around as my 'goto' developer.

I have appointed myself APUG's Torquemada. My English is poor, my Spanish worse but heresy, now there, is my specialty. I find it to be a tormenting and burning question that I will stake your life on.

No one, coming to APUG, ever expects the Spanish Inquisition! :D

Care to give a hermeneutical exposition on that one ... inquisiting minds want to know.

Hey,Fhovie, did I claim to be annointed by God? No, I did not. Rather I clearly stated that it was a much higher authority that appointed me: ME.

I am an old farm boy. The only expositions that I am interested in are livestock. In this case livestock is the opposite of my concerns and ambitions. I know, people hear that I am a farm boy and they think that the matter I have between my toes is cow shit. I tell you the female of the bovine species is not to be blamed. Secondly, I tell you that the matter goes right to the top.

Also, I contend that you should not presume to be so uppity. I mean I ask you Appugers to pronounce "Senft", so you spit a bit. Now pronounce Fhovie

I think any reasonable person will see my point.
