    Call for Artists. Friendly House Community Center in NW Portland announces its Emerging Artists Program. Seeking 2-D artworks from emerging artists who currently reside in the Pacific Northwest for our Community Gallery. The space is suitable for either solo or group shows. Friendly House is offering $40 towards the creation and publication of show cards. Art works will be on display for a full eight-week period. Works will be juried by Joy Church- Friendly House Community Center Director, Suzette Smith- FHCC Artist Liaison, Elizabeth Darby- FHCC Volunteer and other local artists. Artists will receive 80% of the retail price for any works sold. Email images of your work, along with 12-15 digital images and measurements to, subject line “call for artists”.     Call for Submissions for Surface presented by the BAG Gallery (3/20-4/2). Theme for show is landscapes. This exhibition will include all interpretations and portrayals of landscape, from the traditional to the abstract and conceptual. All visions of landscape will be reviewed and considered. Images created via any medium will be accepted for consideration (i.e. photography, video, painting, sculpture, installation, illustration, alternative medium, etc.), so long as the object is created by a working artist. All works must not exceed 48 inches in width, height or depth and may not suspend from the ceiling. All work must be properly framed and ready to hang. Award: Three month Residency at Brooklyn Artists Gym. Fee: Entry fee is $25.00. A single non-refundable application fee of $25. Maximum number of entries: 3 per artist.     Call for Artists for 2009 Artist Exhibit Program for experienced or emerging visual artists living or working in Clackamas County.     Call to Artists for Celebrate December: Something Red. Artists In Action in Salem invites Oregon artists to participate in the 6th annual Celebrate December Something Red Art Walk, Show and Sale, (12/1-31). Artwork must feature the color Red. The following media will be accepted: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramic, sculpture, collage, mixed media, fiber, jewelry, and other fine arts media. Only original art completed within the last two years and has not been previously shown in this event will be accepted. All works shall be for sale with a 15% commission to the host business. Works will be juried by the original piece. 7-10 award ribbons will be given at awards reception, Wednesday, December 3. Entry Fee: $10 per entry, maximum two entries. Size limit 36 by 48 inches.     Call for Photography for Flora & Fauna (2/6-3/1). Newspace Center for Photography (Portland) invites photographers to submit images for our themed juried exhibtion. Seeking work that celebrates the beauty and mystery of the plants and animals we share our lives with. The competition is open to photographers using any type of photographic process, color or black & white, traditional or computer generated/manipulated images. Portland photographer and Newspace Program Director Laura Valenti will be selecting images for the exhibition. The entry fee is $5 per image and you may enter as many images as you like.     Call for Visual Artists for the 27th Annual Beaverton Visual Arts Showcase (2/8-21). Visual artists in the Portland region are invited to submit their work to Beaverton's 2009 Visual Arts Showcase to be held in the Beaverton City Library. Showcase artists will be honored at an opening night gala on 2/9. Prizes will be awarded including four, $200, first place awards and a $500, "Best of Show" prize. Artists must live in the Portland metro area. All work must be original and have been completed within the last two years. An accepted piece of art from a previous Showcase may not be entered again. The sales price of a submitted work may not exceed $5,000. No student work or work done in a class is eligible. All artwork must be for sale. A total of four works may be submitted for consideration. There is no entry fee. Artists must volunteer at least three hours during the Showcase exhibition to ensure the exhibition is open all library hours. A 30% commission will be taken from all sales.     Call for Artists for Flora & Fauna (1/2-2/1), a celebration of the life surrounding us in our natural world.     Call for Photographs. The Pittock Mansion is seeking photographs of significant historic structures such as buildings, bridges and architectural details for a juried photography show that will take place February through June, 2009. The Pittock Mansion is looking for photographs which reflect the past 150 years of Oregon history as the show will celebrate the 150th anniversary of statehood.     Portland Neighbors West-Northwest (NWNW) Photo Contest. Anyone who lives, works or visits places within the Neighbors West Northwest boundaries in Portland can participate in the contest ( They will accept work from amateur photographers who want to share their neighborhood images with the community. The entry requirements are as follows: Photos must be taken within the NWNW coalition boundaries and relate to the neighborhood (part of the neighborhood, neighbors, or neighborhood events); Photos must be original works of the entrant but there is no time restriction as to when the photo was taken; Photos must include a label specifying where the photograph was taken, a title or caption, photographer’s complete name, address, daytime phone number and email address; Photos must be submitted in JPEG format.     Estacada's Spiral Gallery Co-op is seeking new members. This two-year old co-op is going strong, and displays art in a variety of mediums from artists in and around Estacada and the Clackamas River valley. If you are willing to pay dues, work two shifts a month, attend a monthly meeting and help out with a committee, we are happy to give you 80% commission on your art, let you have a show in the featured space whenever you want to sign up for one, and promote you and your work on our website and through promotional materials.     Cascade Gallery is accepting proposals for the 2008-2009 Exhibitions. Cascade Gallery at Portland Community College Cascade Campus is looking for solo, themed group, artist studio/teams, video and multimedia presentations. Proposals for exhibitions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Submissions for exhibitions are evaluated on artistic quality, relevance to curricula at PCC Cascade, and the variety of the exhibition schedule. The Cascade Gallery is an educational showcase committed to exhibiting work of high artistic quality with approximately 650 square feet.     Board Member position avaialble. The Newspace Center for Photography Board of Directors is currently seeking a new member. The prospective board member should have non-profit experience, enthusiasm for the arts, and a desire to contribute to the strength of the organization. Board positions require a commitment of one to two years of service. Members are required to attend and participate actively in monthly board meetings, which are typically held on third Thursdays from 7-9pm at the Center.
