Hello from the Grand Canyon State

Hi, I just became a supporting member. I have been involved in photography since 1974 and have been teaching it for 27 years now. It is great to see that traditional (analog if you like) photography isn't dead yet. We may end up like the dinasaurs some day but I am not ready to toss in the towel yet. I want my cameras to be more than just paper weights or door stops. They still have a lot of life in them and much light to absorb. I look forward to viewing the images you guys post and hope to post some of my own. I am a multi-format owner but I prefer capturing reflected light through my Wista SP and primarilly shoot using T-Max 100 or whatever is left. Here is wishing everyone many successes in their personal photography and may the light always excite your silver halides!

Welcome! What part of AZ do you live in? I spent a year in Casa Grande, mostly too broke to shoot any pictures. Love to see what you shoot out there.

Gary, what a small world! I was born and raised in Casa Grande and got my start in photography at Central Arizona College in 1974. I now live in Gold Canyon (foothills of the Superstition Mountains and legend of the Lost Dutchman). Hope you had a nice stay in CG!

Welcome from Hawaii. Glad to see you posted an introduction. I used to live in Arizona (Apache Junction, Chandler, Tempe, Phoenix), but moved away about 8 years ago, to Hawaii. At times I think about moving back. Welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing some of your images, I'm sure they will bring back memories. There are a few other Az people here, so I'm sure you will see them, popup sooner or later.

Welcome from the other corner of the country. I spent three years exploring Tempe on a one speed bicycle. I have a brother-in-law in Scottsdale and one in Glendale and my wife's father has retired to Tucson.
I once spent the greater part of a day with a bunch of friends wandering around the Superstitions, circling Weaver's Needle. I wish I was as involved with photography then as I am now. That's one incredible place to photograph.

At times I think about moving back.

In the last 8 years there's been quite a few changes; More Californians.

Welcome AZnative from a former Arizonian. Phoenix was only about 300,000 when I lived there. I visit my parents twice a year in Scottsdale and have been thinking of moving back out. Wish I would have bought land over by the Superstitions years ago. Knew I was in Apache Junction when I saw the rock store.

Thanks for the welcome. Arizona has an incredible and diverse landscape even though the valley of the sun can be hotter than a plate of sizzlin' steak fajitas but as most of you probably already know the cool country is only a couple of hours away. I am particular to the beautiful landscape and light of Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley but even after several years I still feel that I have just barely begun to scratch the surface in my home state as far as subject matter goes. So much more to explore and photograph and so little time.

Greetings from your neighbor in New Mexico! I lived in various places in AZ for a total of around 25 years. Grew up in a little town called Yarnell (~70 miles NW of Phoenix), went to college at ASU and lived in the east valley (Scottsdale/Tempe/Fountain Hills) for most of my adult life. Arizona is a beautiful state, lots to see and photograph.
