Hi everyone,

First, I apologize in advance : my english is bad

I'm Nicolas and I'm an amateur photographer since 2 years. I shoot only with analog camera. I started with a Pentax MX, then I switched for a LX and then... well... you know how it works... Minox 35, Zeiss Ikon Taxona, Yashica Electro GT, Lubitel, Miranda Sensorex, Kowa 6mm, some Lumière and Voigtlander foldings, pinhole, Agat 18k (!),....
But now I'm very happy with my old 500C and my old M3

I feel that I will learn many many things here

Welcome!

I have to admit I mostly pass Liège because I can't communicate with the poeple there. I guess I really have to learn French by now.
Don't worry about your English!

Nicolas, I just tried to send you a PM. It does not work. I get a "Member is not found" message after hitting the "send private message" button at your profile and composing the message. Never happened to me before. You should contact Sean, the guy behind Apug, on this matter.

It's funny, just yesterday I glanced through an integral Soviet photographic products catalogue from 1990 and wondered about that Agat, as I did not get that much wiser from the text and the small photo.

Meanwhile I looked up that camera (praised be the internet). Interesting little camera.
But what is the idea behind that sailing-boat icon `above´ the sun-icon on the light-intensity scale? I mean, what is more bright than bright sunlight?

I know of the reflection from snow, which brightens a scene (a sort of natural fill-in). But I was not aware of the sea doing the same.
I shall think about this. I live off the coast...

You live out on sea?

They chose the wrong symbol, i think.
Reflections of sand, snow and water indeed fill in shadows, but do not need exposure compensation.
What does need compensation is white snow, if you want it to be white. So they had better put a snowman on it. Or perhaps a bucket and a spade, because maybe a bright beach would need a bit less exposure too.
But water? Nah...

your English is infinitely better than my French! kal

I think that describes a lot of us. I can read and write French and sometimes speak it. I usually have trouble listening though. It's too fast!
