Hi,

I just mentioned in another thread, but I was wondering if anyone is interested in a group purchase of Palladium Chloride.

I will find out what would be the minimum purchase which would still make a sense in terms of saving. As other people have suggested, it sounds like anywhere from 250-500 grams (or even 1000 grams), and the per gram price will be around $8-9. Again, I will confirm on this price next week, and will let you know.

Personally, I would like to purchase something like 50g or so. That would mean I need 4-9 more people who would be interested in purchasing the same amount of P. C.

PM me if you are interested in. Also, does anyone have a good suggestion as to how to handle a group purchase like this? Thanks.

Warmly
Tsuyoshi

Check out Dead Link Removed. I got a good price on gold chloride from this source. He's an alt-process printer, and he buys in quantity and passes on the savings, taking what seems to be a small markup.

Just a thought, there is another discussion (there was a url link here which no longer exists) about making a group purchase. It may not make any difference, but figure that a single large order might get a better price than two smaller ones.

Hi Mike,

I just talked to Ray, and we will be contacting different sources for price quote for 250 & 500 grams. Yes, it does make sense to combine the orders to make one HUGE purchase.

Now, I am thinking of ordering 100 g for myself. So, let us know how much of P.C. everyone wants. Ray and I will give more detailed information as we find out this coming week.

Warmly,
Tsuyoshi

Hi Tsuyoshi,
Glad to here you talked with Ray, that is good news. Hope my comment did not come across wrong, just hate to see the orders split (besides it is easy for some of us to get confused which thread we are responding to some times  )

Like the idea that there could be more than one "cheap" source. BTW, Thank You and Ray both for pulling this together....100 g now that's a lot of palladium (hope we get to see some of the prints)

I would be interested in something along the 25g range (potentially, but don't quote me on it, LOL), depending on how disasterous my bank statement falls out, and if it can be shipped to Canada without upsetting the gods of bordersecurity.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi everyone:

I contacted both Artcraft and Engelhard today and got price quote. Here's the deal:

Artcraft
250-500g: $8.80/g
1 kg: $8.30/g

Engelhard
250g: $8.00/g
500g: $7.75/g
1 kg: $7.50/g

I am asking a rep from Engelhard about other costs associated with a purchase. I did not contact the other place overseas since I am very reluctant to send a huge amount of money to overseas where I cannot speak the language and cannot get hold of them locally. Plus, there is 20% tax for importing Palladium if you do it legitimately. So the difference will not be worth taking a risk (not to mention, I do not want to take a risk with other people's money).

Also, I am hoping everyone would agree on a minimum order of 25 grams and ordering units of 25grams (So, 25g, 50g, 75g, 100g and so on). That way, we can ask them to pack individually when we order. I would assume anyone who is interested in this purchase would be OK with this.

Let us know how much you would like to order. Again the more the better! Hope to hear from you soon.

Warmly,
Tsuyoshi

Thank you for the leg work Tsuyoshi, timing can make a big difference on the price from engelhard as the price is based on market price which is a bit high today 260.00 it has been as low as 205.00 in the past 60 days. We may want to watch the market for a few days and see what happens.

Tsuyoshi,

Please put me down for 25g, I would like to do more but it's Christmas time.

Don Bryant

P.S. Perhaps we can do this once or twice a year.

Update on group purchase of P. C.

Hi everyone:

Just want to give you an update:

1) I am still waiting to hear from a couple of more people to confirm the amount that they want. We are very close to 500g right now (475g to be exact). So depending on these people, we may get the price of $7.75.

2) I am waiting to hear from the rep at Engelhard to give me all the cost associated with the purchase, namely S/H and individual packaging. She was out yesterday, so hopefully she will get back to me today.

3) As soon as I can get above information, I will be able to figure out the final price. As for shipping to you (in US), I personally would like to use, at least, Priority Mail or Fedex Ground with insurance to ensure that there is less time in third party's hand. I want to minimize a chance of creating any complications out of the situation. For people from overseas, I would work out the details with you individually.

4) As soon as I figure out the final price, I would like you to send me the payment. Personal check, MO, or certified check. I can take Paypal with credit card payment as long as you add 3% of surcharge which they will eventually charge me. For Paypla via bank transfer there is no surcharge.

5) Also, please let me know your shipping address.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me directly. Thanks for your attention and cooperation.

Warmly,
Tsuyoshi

Prices look to be a lot heavier than those of Engelhard.

BTW, the Engelhard plant is located very close to Clemson University where I work. Unfortunately, it makes no sense for me to organize a group order since as a South Carolina resident I have to pay sales tax of 5% over the price of the metal. I organized an order of over $5000 a few years ago and after the fact realized that someone in another state could have saved over $250 on the order, all other conditions being the same.

FYI, here's a good place to track the price of platinum, palladium, gold, etc.

Last time I put together a big group buy this was a very handy tool.

I just bought some gold chloride from mostlymetals.com, and got a pretty good deal. The owner, Blake Ellis, is an alt process printer himself, and mostleymetals started as a buyers' club.

He's probably worth getting a quote from by e-mail, since he's also trying to put together group orders to get the best price, so he might be able to get a better price if he knows that you want a large amount (i.e., by combining your group order with the orders from his regular customers).

David,

Thanks for the lead. I did try him, but the price was not as good as others unfortunately. His best price was $9.02... Thanks though.

Warmly,
Tsuyoshi

If it is not too late I would be interested in participating in the purchase. I would be interested in 50, maybe even 75 depending on timing.
