Hello
My name is Robert. I'm new to this site and very interested in sharing ideas of creative photography. I have been working as a photography tech for professional commerical labs for over 25 years. I lost my job because of the digital monster. The past six years, I have been apart of a local group and if I like what I see I'll past along this site to them.
I work with both in Black & White and color, medium and large format.

I noticed your work in the Contact Printers Guild. Very nice. Did you also post something in craigslist?

The group is called Portland Photographers Forum. It was started by some of the local biggies, Brooks Jensen, Stu Levy, Stuart Harvey and others. They went on to other ventures but PPF is basically the same. Fine art photographers working mostly within traditional photography.

Welcome from Hawaii. The digital monster doesn't rule here. Looking forward to seeing some of your images online.

Welcome Robert.

I TOO lived in Portland for about a year around 1990. Since it was a short term stay, I worked at Pro Photo instead of starting up again. I lived in the lofts and spent many hours at Powells.

Great city. Welcome.

There is also a little group that meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, through the meetup.com site. I haven't gone yet though, because I usually take yoga on Wednesdays. But maybe someday... if I can conquer my shyness...

Welcome Robert

I have never been to Portland but bid you welcome from UK

PS A darkroom that shares space with a brewery. Fantastic. You could use the alpha acids in the hops to fix and stain at the same time.

Hi Robert from Sydney. Never been to Portland but many people have told me that Oregon is a lovely piece of territory, so I will try and get there one day.

Sounds like plenty of like-minded folks there to have fun with...

I'm a Guiness person. But we also have what's called "Terminator Stout" I was apart of a workshop where the group got to photograph inside one of our local breweries. We got to samples and I believe not many photographs were made afterwards. I've meet some folks from the UK and they tell me the weather here is much like yours.

Riiiiight...

I mean, sure the public schools are in dire straights, half the streets aren't paved, the power grid is a nightmare and they just release their criminals on a whim, but if they could just get tax rates up another 30% they could build that baseball stadium and downtown indian casino and then everything would be ok.

Almost sounds like Hawaii. They don't call us "The People's Republic of Hawaii" for nothing you know.
