Anyone got any recommendations for a combination of paper and toner that gives a lively gold-toned colour?

The Forte range of papers respond well but they tone very quickly, one way to control this is to use quite old toner. John Blakemore uses Forte and has some exquisite gold toned prints. Oriental Seagull graded papers produce some nice results and Ilford Warmtone also responds well.

I have achieved amazingly believable metallic gold tones with Ilford’s ‘warm-tone’ multicontrast papers, and sepia toner, especially when spot or selectively tonning, and in conjunction with other toners like Viradon, and two-bath seleniums, etc.

Gold toner or golden tones?

Very nice golden tones can be had from the yellow (Titanium) toner in the Colorvir kits on just about any paper, including MG IV.
