Not a lot of info on this lens out there. Mine is mounted in an Ilex #3 Universal shutter and appears to be single coated (purple reflections). From the little I can glean, I should be able to mount this on my B&J 8x10 and get coverage (obviously, I could mount it regardless.... ), correct? One old thread on the LFInfo site seemed to imply it could cover 7x17 stopped down to f/45.

Is the coating a later addition? The lens info shows both the original Dopp-Anistagmat as well as Dagor. Serial No. 177808.

Thanks for any info.

I have an 8 1/4 inch Dagor and it will cover 8X10...I don't think that it will come anywhere near covering 7X17...so I wonder at your thoughts on the 240 mm version. There is some difference of coverage in the Dagors...even in the same focal lengths according to what others have reported so that may be the case here. It certainly should cover the 8X10 format with adequate movements. I like what my lens provides in terms of sharpness and tonal rendition.

If it's coated, it's definitely an aftermarket coating. Burke and James and other companies provided this service.

Ser. iii Dagors often have more coverage than later versions. Like Donald, I have a later 8-1/4" Gold Dot Dagor, which covers 8x10" and then a bit more. I don't know if the ser. iii will make it to 7x17, but it's worth a try. My 168mm ser. iii Dagor just covers 8x10" stopped down.
