In desperation trying to find a replacement for Neutol WA, I purchased a bottle of Fotospeed WT10 warmtone developer. Unfortunately it came with no instructions for dilutions, times etc. The Fotospeed tech. data PDF is not much use for this. The little info I've found gives a dilution of 1+9, although I've heard mention that it can be used at 1+19~1+29 depending on the warmth of image required. Has anyone out there used this developer and if so, what are your recommendations? Many thanks, BLIGHTY

This took me to an article in the BJP on Agfa chemicals being bought up by an IT company. I couldn't see anything about Fotospeed WT10 which is what thread is about. Have you placed this on the wrong thread?

http://www.fotospeed.com/techinfo.htm

No, the point is that the production of Agfa chemicals will continue.

The Fotospeed tech. inf. PDF gives 'standard' dilution and time data. What I would really like is the experience of those who've used it 'in the field'. Thanks, BLIGHTY.

Sorry. That's what I get for skimming the posts! I asked around some of the people where I work (at a school) who use various Fotospeed products from time to time, but they did not have any suggestions either...

Les McLean uses Fotospeed Warmtone in a number of his prints shown in his book Creative B&W Photography.

I could give an attempted summary of what he says but (a) not sure it would help a great deal and (b) there is the little matter of copyright.

Maybe Les will chime in or if not, and nobody else can help maybe you could pm him. His book seems to cover dilutions for contrast rather than warmth.

His book is worth buying. It can be read very easily first time but has a depth that repays several visits.

i use it a lot blighty - at between 1:19 and 1:30 at about 22 degrees - it is a gorgeous developer. I get a nice warmish feel on MGFB developed for between 2 and 3 mins - not really green like neutol gives, more of a browny-olive - much nicer imo. It is a perfect partner for fotospeed legacy paper too - nice rich tones. I think you might prefer it to neutol - I do.

Yes, I've heard this too Chris. Sounds interesting. I've heard shed loads about Les's book. What is the title (just so I know I'm getting the right one!)?

It's called "Creative Black and White Photography" ISBN 0 7153 1280-4

It has a picture of 3 children on the front cover taken when Les was on a project in N.Ireland.
